James F. Moseley

Jim Moseley’s practice focuses primarily in the fields of admiralty and maritime, personal injury defense and transportation law. He has extensive experience in the preparation and trial of litigation in state and federal courts. He is also an experienced mediator, certified in all Florida circuit courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Moseley is a member of the Jacksonville (President, 1975-1976) and American (Member, House of Delegates) Bar Associations; The Florida Bar (Chairman, Admiralty Law Committee, 1973-1975); Florida Council of Bar Presidents (Chairman, 1978); Federal Rules Advisory Committee (M.D. FLA); Maritime Law Association of the U.S. (President, 1996-1998); Vice President, 1992-1996); Chairman, Committee on Navigation and Coast Guard, 1982-1988; Member Executive Committee, 1978-1981); Committee Maritime International (Titular Member; Member, Sub-Committee on Collision Damages, 1984-1990); national Association of Railroad Trial Counsel; Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel (Chairman, Maritime Law Section, 1986-1988); International Association of Defense Counsel (Chairman, Maritime Law Committee, 1989-1991); Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute (Chairman, 1980); Tulane University Admiralty Law Institute (Member, Planning Committee; Advisory Board).

Mr. Moseley is a Recipient of the DOT/U.S. Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award, 1998; was Associate Editor, 1989-2007, Editor, 2008 to present; American Maritime Cases; and the author of numerous treatises and articles, including “Did That Airplane Affect Admiralty? Executive Jet and its Aftermath,” 25 FICC. Q. 319, 1975; “Marina and Vessel Repair Facilities: Liability and Insurance,” 6 Journal Maritime Law & Commerce, 621, 1975; “Defense of Railroad Employment Litigation,” 36 FICC. Q. 407, 1986; “Afloat in a Changing Sea: Admiralty Rules & Procedures,” 1987 Defense Research Institute 60, 1987; “Schlesinger, Moseley, et al. Mr. Moseley received his undergraduate degree from The Citadel (with honors) and his law degree from the University of Florida.
