Jay Knight is a veteran trial lawyer licensed to practice in both Florida and Georgia courts.  His practice concentrates on civil defense with particular emphasis on insurance, railroad, admiralty, and products liability defense.  He is also a certified civil mediator in Florida circuit courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Knight is a proctor member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, a past Port Director of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and a member of the Defense Research Institute.  He participated as a Barrister member of Jacksonville’s Chester Bedell Inn of Court.   He is also a member of The Florida Bar, The State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association (President, Jacksonville Chapter, 1997-1998), and the Jacksonville Bar Association (Ethics and Grievance Committees).

Mr. Knight is also a member of the Propeller Club of the United States, a maritime business organization with over 10,000 members worldwide.  He served for two years as International President of the Propeller Club and has served in various leadership roles on that organization’s Executive Board since 1992.

Mr. Knight is a graduate of Ole Miss (1980 - B.B.S. Accountancy) and the University of Florida (1982 - J. D., with honors).
